PHCCIMA PARTNERS CIPM ON STANDARDIZATION OF PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT PRACTICE IN NIGERIA

The President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) Eze, Sir Mike Elechi, Jp has called for standardization of personnel management practice as a holistic approach to solving organizational human resources problems in Nigeria.
He made the call when he granted audience to the Registrar/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chartered Institute of Personnel Management and her entourage on a courtesy visit at the Chamber’s Secretariat Aba road in PortHarcourt, on Tuesday.

 The PHCCIMA President commended (CIPM) Registrar/CEO and her team for their thoughtful idea of  honouring the Chamber, positing that Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce  being the umbrella body of business organizations should be the first point of call in promoting the activities of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management in Rivers State, just as he urged the (CIPM) team to also find time to visit other state Chambers of Commerce.

Sir Elechi who is a recipient of National Productivity Oder of Merit (NPOM) assured the CIPM Registrar/ CEO of the Chamber’s participation in the 54th CIPM International Conference and Exhibitions holding between the 17th and 20th October 2022 in Port Harcourt and  promised to promote the event through the Chamber’s medium.

The PHCCIMA President who is also the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Vintage Farms & Products Ltd hinted that the State Chairman of (CIPM) should liaise with the Secretariat of the Chamber to make presentation on the conference/ exhibition and other programmes of the Institute to the entire members of the Chamber during their monthly general forum, adding that it will serve as a means of expanding the visibility of (CIPM) in Rivers State.
Earlier in her presentation, the Registrar/ CEO of Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Ms. Oluwatoyin Naiwa (FCIPM) thanked the PHCCIMA President and Exco members for the warm reception accorded them, saying that they were at the Chamber’s Secretariat to officially  inform the PHCCIMA President of their 54 International Conference and Exhibitions holding in October, 2022  in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital.  She maintained that Port Harcourt will be playing host of the event for the first time after it’s 23rd years of existence, positing that the CIPM’s International Conference and Exhibitions is a major platform for intellectual and creative discourse covering various themes of contemporary global and national importance delivered by recognized thought leaders. The CIPM Registrar added that they were excited at the opportunity of hosting the event, expressing the hope that the event will bring immense benefit to the economy and industry in Rivers State, hence their visit to Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce which is a foremost organization with focus on growing Commerce and Industry in Rivers State, just as they felt it was proper to officially notify the Chamber as a way of partnership and collaboration to promoting the human resource certification programme, support member organization, determine standard of knowledge as well as skill of their personnel management departments.
Giving his vote of thanks, the 2nd Deputy President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) Hon. Prince Charles Beke thanked the CIPM Registrar/CEO and her team for finding time to share ideas with the Chamber and urged that they avail themselves the opportunity of enrolling as full member of PHCCIMA.  Other highlights of the visit were an interactive  session and exchange of sourvenier by the leaders of the organizations.
