PHCCIMA HOLDS MEMBERS GENERAL FORUM WITH CHAINS OF ACTIVITIES

The Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) on Friday the 22nd of September, 2023 held it’s members general forum with chains of activities.

Speaking at the event, the President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) Eze, Sir, Mike Elechi, NPOM, JP, FNIM, DSSRS thanked Chamber members on their active participation in all activities of the chamber which propelled his administration achieving it’s objectives just as he assured them of continues strive to take the chamber to another milestone of higher visibility.

On the launching of Rivers State government and (PHCCIMA) Medium and Small Scale Enterprises (MSME)and Small Medium Enterprises (SME) Database Project, the President noted that the idea is aimed at capturing all formal and informal Businesses in the state to provide accurate database to enable the state government formulate good policies for the benefits of both the government and private sector.

While unveiling the 17th edition of Port Harcourt International trade fair and exhibition, the President said that the trade fair will run from the 6th to the 20th of December, 2023 as at the Isaac Adaka Boro park mile 1 flyover in Port Harcourt, adding that the event will be another opportunity to showcase the rich potentials of the State, adding that both Rivers State government and federal government agencies in the state will be in active participation as well as foreign exhibitors.

Inducting new members into the membership of the Chamber, the President charged them to uphold the laws of the federal, state government, the constitution and code of Ethics of the Chamber.

He maintained that the new members are entitled to join maximum of two trade groups that are in line with their profession as the Chamber is run through the trade group which is the engine room for growth and development of the association.

In their separate speeches, the Permanent Secretaries of Rivers State Ministry of Commerce and Industry as well as his counterpart in the Ministry of Agriculture who co-launched the MSME/SME Database Project, explained that the present administration in the state under His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara is interested to have a knowledge of the number of business owners both at the formal and informal sectors, to get them registered and the government through the affected ministries and Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce will serve as their guarantors to access interest free loan to boost their businesses with the aim of reducing hardship in the state.

The event also featured paper presentation by the South South Regional Manager of NEXIM Bank, Mr. Soni Osaghale who provided insight on how business owners can access low interest loan from their establishment.

The September Members’ General Forum was well attended by distinguished members of the Chamber, including a past President, Exco and Council members, Heads of OPS organizations, Federal and state governments agencies, inductees and pressmen as shown in the picture gallery above
