Rivers State Governor, His Excellency Sir Dr Siminalaye Fubara GSSRS has said that he will do everything within his Power to ensure that PortHarcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture PHCCIMA take it’s rightful position as a business advocacy group in the development of business community in Rivers State.
Governor Fubara made the promise shortly after he was decorated as the grand Patron of PHCCIMA during the Investiture Dinner of Dr. Chinyere Nwoga FIMC FIARSAC FICA as the 64th President, Exco and Council members of PortHarcourt Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture PHCCIMA on Thursday in PortHarcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The Rivers State Chief Executive maintenaned that he was at the occasion in solidarity with the first Female President of PHCCIMA, saying that his administration is committed in attracting business hence the need to work with all stakeholders for the overall interest of the state.
He commended the past leadership of PHCCIMA, saying that what is paramount is enabling evironment, crime free society for business activities to thrive, just as he called on all stakeholders to rally round the new PHCCIMA Executives to succeed.
Earlier in her address, the President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture PHCCIMA Dr Chinyere Nwoga FIMC FIARSAC FICA thanked all those who contributed to her success stories, adding that her administration will partner with Rivers State government in monthly round table meeting to improve business activities, support the growth of Micro, Small, Medium enterprise in the state.
The first Female PHCCIMA President also promised that her team will lounch operation bring back our old members through visitation to their individual companies, positing that members shall have free access to the Chamber Secretariat to hold their private meetings and conferences.
The PHCCIMA Boss further promised to initiate annual lecture series that will attract foreign investors to share business ideas, exchange contacts among other things.
In his remark, the immediate past president of PortHarcourt Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture PHCCIMA Eze Sir Mike Elechi Jp FNIM NPOM DSSRS explained that PHCCIMA has a sustainable succession plan which makes transition of power seamless, adding that every president continues from where his predecessor stopped and promised to make available his service and ideas for the new President and her team to succeed.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman Organizing Committee, Chief Nabil Saleh acknowledged the contributions of all the stakeholders who paved the way for the first Female President of PHCCIMA to emerge after 64 years, adding that the Investiture is a complement of a dream come through.
While expressing optimism that the first Female President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce will deliver on her mandate, he congratulated her and her team for scaling through their elections.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion, Senator John Azuta Mbata, Senator of federal republic Nigeria recalled that upon his return from National Youth services, his father who was a successful business man introduced him to PortHarcourt Chamber of Commerce which according to him was known for cross-breeding of business ideas and expressed the hope that things have not changed especially now that a woman is at the helm of affairs of the organization.
He described the Dr. Chinyere Nwoga as well breed business woman who has been in leadership positions for years and expressed the hope that she will definitely deliver and called for Cross-fertilization of ideas between the Chamber leadership and Rivers State government.
There were good will massages from NACCMA President, Ambassador of the Republic of Rowanda, Chairman, PHCCIMA Advisory Committee, Chief Hyke Ochia, His Royal Majesty, Eze Amb Sir Leslie Nyebuchi Eke(Eze Gbaka Gbaka) among others.
