PHCCIMA ATTRACTS FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT TO RIVERS STATE

Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) hosted a Zoom meeting of the concluding session of a huge investment outlay in Rivers State as the investors from the Preston University, USA led by the renowned Professor of Economics, Prof. Leonard Wantchekon and Mr. Travis of the famous AC Atlantis Football Club of Madrid, Spain, Europe were present to finalise discussions on the establishment of a Campus of the Preston University of Economics as well as a Sports Academy in Rivers State. The Zoom meeting which was hosted at the  Chamber Secretariat on Thursday 7th September, 2023 by the Chamber President Eze, Sir Mike Elechi, NPOM, DSSRS, FNIM, JP and anchored by the investors representatives in Nigeria, Mr. Obi and his team from Abuja facilitated final discussions on the establishment of both the academic and sports projects in the State.

Highlights of the meeting included the appointment of Chief Adokiye Amesiemeka,  
MON, OLY, JP, GMH, DSSRS, as Brand Ambassador of the Preston University and the acceptance of Rivers State Government to partner with the investors to actualise their vision in the State. When actualised the investment will provide ample opportunity for Rivers Youth to explore various sports for their professional careers and also gain academic qualifications from the Campus of the Preston University as well as developing an Eco-System of trades and entrepreneurship in the State. Dignitaries at the meeting were, the Chamber President Eze, Sir Mike Elechi, NPOM, DSSRS, FNIM, JP, 2nd Deputy President, Hon. Prince Charles Beke, NPOM, JP, Treasurer, Surveyor Emmanuel Ogbonda, FCAI, Special Guest of Honour, Sir Christopher Green, the Hon. Commissioner for Sports, Guest of Honour, Chief Adokiye Amasiemeka, MON, OLY, JP, GMH, DSSRS, the Brand Ambassador, Dr. Maraizu Uche, Chairman of Commercial and Economic Trade Group, Mr. Silas O. Igwe, Chamber Auditor and Vice Chairman of Financial Services Trade Group, Mrs. Vivian Segun-John, Chairman of Agriculture and Agro Allied Services Trade Group, the Director General, Mr. Erasmus Chukunda and pressmen.
