PHCCIMA SHOWS BIG PRESENCE AT BELGIAN – LUXEMBOURG – NIGERIA COCKTAIL RECEPTION IN ABUJA

In a rapidly globalizing world, the present administration of Port Harcourt Chamber Of Commerce led by Dr Chinyere Nwoga knows that international standing and bilateral relationships are pivotal in shaping its development trajectory and the well-being of its membership, as its formidable global profile can attract foreign investments, foster bilateral partnerships, and stimulate foreign direct investments.

In view of this, Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce recently showed huge presence at the Belgian-Luxembourg –
Nigeria Cocktail Reception where PHCCIMA President, Dr Chinyere Nwoga was represented by the Chairman of
Economic and Commercial Services Trade Group, Mr Chike Memeh.

The event organised by the Belgium Ambassador at his residence in Abuja on 10th of April witnessed international turn out.

The Belgian ambassador personally met and welcomed the PHCCIMA representative, and affirmed meeting with the chamber recently. He reaffirmed the desire for enhanced business collaboration between the Port Harcourt Business Community and Belgium, stating that he had also met the Rivers State Governor shortly before his suspension, a development that indicates that the international community also understood the local politics in Nigeria.

Other guests at the cocktail includes, the Ambassadors to Brazil, Jamaica, the European Union officials, the Minister of State for Regional Development, the Executive Assistant to the Minister of Trade & Industry, Director from Foreign Affairs and several private sector bodies.

In his speech, the Belgium Ambassador stated that for the first time, Cocoa from Nigeria had topped all other exports from Nigeria to Belgium. He restated his invitation to the Nigeria – Belgium Summit holding at Luxembourg on October 22nd, adding that the Minister of Aviation is among the confirmed guests to attend.

The Minister of State for Regional Development in his speech affirmed the need for a close collaboration with Belgium
The President of the EU – Nigeria Agro Business forum also proceeded to expatiate that Nigeria exported over $140m worth of unprocessed cocoa to Belgium last year. That the next plan was to begin to add value to the cocoa raw materials so the country can begin to export processed cocoa products.

They proceeded to sign an agreement between the bodies.
