The President of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA), Dr. Chinyere Nwoga, has reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to building strategic international partnerships that unlock opportunities for entrepreneurs, particularly women and young people.
Dr. Nwoga made this known while receiving a delegation from Robert Gordon University (RGU), Aberdeen, Scotland, led by Dr. Poh Yen Ng, during a courtesy visit to the Chamber in Port Harcourt. She warmly welcomed the visitors and underscored PHCCIMA’s readiness to collaborate with reputable global institutions in entrepreneurship development, innovation, capacity building and enterprise growth.
According to her, the Chamber remains deliberate in creating platforms that equip its members with the knowledge, skills and international exposure required to thrive in today’s dynamic business environment. She stressed that partnerships that promote inclusion and empower women-owned businesses are vital to sustainable economic development.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Dr. Poh Yen Ng, Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at RGU and Founding Director of the Aberdeen Centre for Entrepreneurship and Research (ACER), outlined the university’s interest in forging meaningful collaborations with PHCCIMA. She highlighted opportunities to support women entrepreneurs through research, training, mentorship and innovation-driven programmes aimed at enhancing business competitiveness and resilience.
Other members of the delegation, all distinguished Nigerians, also identified areas for collaboration. Prof. Chioma Onoshakpor highlighted opportunities in alternative financing, knowledge transfer and research partnerships. Prof. Imaobong James pledged support in digital transformation, online visibility and social media marketing, while Prof. Tolulope Ibukun emphasised the importance of market intelligence and research-driven growth.
Also speaking, High Chief Emeka Ezekwe, Chairman of PHCCIMA’s Professional Services and Consultancy Trade Group, described the proposed partnership as timely and impactful, expressing confidence that it would expand opportunities for local entrepreneurs and strengthen enterprise development in the region.
The visit underscored PHCCIMA’s commitment to fostering global partnerships that promote innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable economic opportunities.
