PHCCIMA COMMENDS NIGERIAN SHIPPERS’ COUNCIL ON DIGITALIZATION OF OPERATIONS

The Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) has commended Nigerian Shippers Council on digitization of operations.

Speaking at an event organized by Nigerian Shippers Council recently, the President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) Eze, Sir Mike Elechi, NPOM, DSSRS, FNIM, JP who was represented by the Deputy Director General of the Chamber, Dr. Ikiri Abraham Joe described the event as landmark, saying that the services rendered at the ports have reduced hardship among people doing businesses around the ports and encouraged the operators to continue in the spirit.

The PHCCIMA Boss maintained that the digitalization of port services in Nigeria will bring sanity in the complex business environment and will reduce the hardship faced by the operators as well as save man hours.

He further commended the Council for the bold step taken to ease the complex burden on business operators in the Nigerian ports.

Earlier in a welcome remarks, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Council Mr. Emmanuel Jime, represented by the Director, Consumer Affairs, Cajetan Agwu, stated that the lunching of the programme was done at its headquarters in Lagos adding that launching in Port Harcourt was the second Phase which is intended for the Zonal Offices.

He noted that the event was mainly a sensitization of Port Operators on the need to migrate from the manual ways of doing things at the ports to a digital regime, hence the registration with the Nigerian Shippers’ Council is made easier in line with the present technological thinking globally.

The Council’s Chief Executive therefore appealed to the Stakeholders, Service Providers in the various Ports in Nigeria to queue into the new digital arrangements which are intended to making business transaction a lot more seamless.

The occasion attracted Captains of companies in the maritime industry, stakeholders and Service Providers in the various Ports in the South-South Zone of Nigeria. It also featured Demonstration of the Portal and interactive session.
