GOV. FUBARA REKINDLES PHCCIMA’S HOPE… PERFORMS GROUND BREAKING OF TRADE HOUSE

Rivers State Governor, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS has reassured the Organized Private Sector and members of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) of his administration’s commitment to return the state to it’s premier status of the commercial hub of the country where businesses will thrive smoothly.

The Governor gave the assurance during the ground breaking and foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce Trade Fair Permanent site and PortHarcourt Trade House Office Complex at the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Area, last Friday.

Governor Fubara who was represented by the Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo explained that the event was a significant journey towards actualization of the expected development in Rivers State, adding that the project when completed will promote business activities in the state.

While recalling that his administration is at the speed lane of development with the release of 4 billion Naira low interest matching loan to support small scale businesses across the state, he described PHCCIMA as a partner in driving development in the state.

In his goodwill message, the Administrator of Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority, Dr. Tonte Davies who described the event as a milestone achievement just as he expressed satisfactiom on the Governor’s zeel in the development of the new city, adding that the event marked second signature projects with the ground breaking of the Youth incubation center and the PHCCIMA Trade House which according to him the two projects when completed will drive rapid development into the city.

Earlier in his address, the President
of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture PHCCIMA Eze Sir Mike Elechi, NPOM, JP, FNIM, DSSRS who thanked Governor Fubara for allocating a corporate office at one of the remolded waterline houses to the Chamber as well as the release of 4 billion Naira matching low interest loan to assist in revitalization of ailing MSMEs and SMEs in the state.

The PHCCIMA boss maintained that Governor Fubara’s leadership has been instrumental in fostering a conducive environment for business growth and investment, adding that the Chamber will thrive and contribute significantly to the economic prosperity of Rivers State, positing that the construction of International Trade Fair Permanent site and office Complex (Trade House) will represent a significant milestone in the history of PHCCIMA.

Sir Elechi prioritized his request on the construction of Perimeter fencing which will enable the Chamber secure and take ownership of the property as the organization has lost a lot of land and properties in the time past. While the second request was for the immediate construction of the Permanent Port Harcourt Trade Fair Ground and Office Complex, as the presence of the Chamber will make the loudable gesture a dream come true.

He finally thanked the Governor for the appointment of two members of the Chamber into his cabinet, Hon. Charles Osimini Bekee, Commissioner for local government affairs and Hon. Solomon Abel Eke, commissioner for Power.

Highlight of the event was the foundation stone laying by the Governor and presentation of Chamber’s customized souvenir to the governor.
