Rivers State Governor, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS has inaugurated the commencement of disbursement of Rivers State Government/Bank of Industry Four Billion Naira loan scheme for nano, micro, small and medium Businesses.
Speaking at the event which was held at the Dr Obi Wali Conference Centre in Port Harcourt on Friday 3rd, 2024, the governor noted that the exercise was in fulfilment of his electioneering campaign promises made to the people, positing that the business community is a critical stakeholders in stabilizing the economy hence the need to assist the Nano, Micro, Small and Medium Business operators to achieve financial stability and enhance the revenue of the state.
While congratulating the beneficiaries of the loan scheme, he charged them to make good use of the opportunities in the repayment plan for the overall benefit of the people, just as he mandated the management of Rivers State Micro finance Agency to monitor the repayment plan.
Earlier in his speech, Pastor Jonathan Tobin, The Managing Director, CEO of Rivers State Micro finance Agency explained that a total of three thousand and sixty six (3,066) beneficiaries were successful and 58 percent were women.
He expressed satisfaction on the successful Flag off of the loan scheme, adding that the business community will remain grateful for the gesture.
