The Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) on Friday, 14th April, 2023 visited the Chairman Management Board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Top  on the agenda of PHCCIMA visit were partnerships on Human  Capacity and Micro, Small, Medium Scale Enterprises and Small Scale Enterprises Development in the Niger  Delta.
  Speaking during the courtesy visit by the City  Chamber of Commerce to the headquarters of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the leader of the delegation and President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) Eze, Sir Mike Elechi, JP FNIM, NPOM, explained that Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) is the recognised Leader of Organised Private Sector (OPS) in Rivers State, adding that it is one of the approved four Premier Chambers of Commerce in Nigeria under the platform of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), providing a very strong umbrella for over 2800 companies and organizations in Rivers State and  the headquarters in the South South regional Chambers of Commerce with the only approved international trade fair status andhost of the international trade fair complex approved by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment for the region.
  “PHCCIMA’s main objective is to promote growth and development of business activities in a conducive environment in the state and the Niger Delta region. The Chamber new Executives and Council are well placed to realise this objective, and we can only achieve this by partnering with government and private sector organisations to execute our people oriented programmes and make businesses thrive in Rivers State and the region at large. Therefore our visit today is hinged on the age long recognition PHCCIMA accords to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as an interventionist agency saddled with the responsibility of developing the people of the oil rich region of Nigeria, and our desire to ride on its veritable platform to contribute our quota in the development of trade, industry and investment for the overall socio-economic growth of our region and dear country in general,  it is on this note that we have come to intimate you on some identified areas of partnership with your Commission, namely; Human Capacity and Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises & Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs and SMEs) Development:
  “The Chamber consists of mainly MSMEs and SMEs members representing all sectors of the national economy, partnering with NDDC on strategic Human Capacity and MSMEs & SMEs development programmes will be the needed catalyst in developing our people and creating viable business ventures across all sectors within the state, noting the huge availability of raw materials for small scale and cottage industries in the region.

  “PHCCIMA/NDDC Entrepreneurship and Human Capacity Development programme

The PHCCIMA and NDDC Entrepreneurship and Human Capacity Development programme is aimed at developing the spirit of enterprise and manpower development of the people within the state in particular and the Niger Delta region generally, this programme if well articulated will de-emphasis the entitlement and settlement syndrome within our youth in the Niger Delta rather we should  build on real entrepreneurship development in all segments/value chains of MSMEs and SMEs, With our wealth of experience PHCCIMA will nominate relevant member Companies to provide facilities for entrepreneurial and technical skills development trainings in the following sectors:Agriculture: Crops farming, fishery, animal husbandry, fish and animal feeds production and hatchery, including processing for export, ICT, Website designing, internet connectivity, coding, digital technology, computing and computer technology,  Construction, welding, fabrication, bricks making, building, tiling, finished leather making, furniture making etc, among other requests.
  In her response, the Chairman of the Management Board of NDDC, Mrs. Lauretta Onochie who led other Directors and Management Staff of NDDC receive the Chamber Executives thanked the President and the Chamber Exco delegation for the visit and assured the Chamber of partnering on the areas of Human Capacity Development in the region and on developing MSMEs and SMEs in the region to produce more goods and services and provide jobs for the teeming youth of the Niger Delta describing PHCCIMA as the best organisation for such partnerships whereby joint implementation Committees will be constituted to ensure success of the outlined programmes for the benefit of the people of Niger Delta. Highlights of the courtesy visit was exchange of souvenirs, signing of visitor register and taking of group photographs. On the Chamber Delegation to the visit led by the President, Eze, Sir Mike Elechi, JP were the 2nd Deputy President Hon. Prince Charles Beke, Past President Sir Godfrey Ohuabunwa, Treasurer Surveyor Emmanuel Ogbonda, Publicity Secretary Pastor Uche Onochie, Elected Council member and Chairman of Trade Missions Desk Mrs. Florence Nwosibe, Exco Supervisor of ICT and Commerce Trade Group Pastor Oluwatoyin Alabi, Chairman of Commercial and Economic Trade Group Dr. Maraizu Uche, Chairman of SMEs and NGOs Trade Group Mrs. Edughom Hanson, Chairman of Financial Services Trade Group Mr. Clement Akanibo, Press Secretary Mr. Joseph Asomeji and the Chamber Director General Mr. Erasmus Chukunda as shown in the above picture gallery.
