PHCCIMA Director General, Mr. Erasmus Chukunda represented the Chamber at the launching of Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project held in Benin City, Edo State. IDEAS Project is a World Bank assisted project of the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Federal Ministry of Education as the major implementing agency. The IDEAS Project seeks to strengthen the labour market fit for skills development in Nigeria by unlocking essential system drives for quality and relevance, notably by leveraging industry involvement & crowding in private resources. The IDEAS Project operates at the federal level & in six states each of which implements the project in their respective geographical zones. The Edo State Ministry of Education is the implementing agency of IDEAS & the IGF for the South-South States of Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Bayelsa & Delta in accordance with the project implementation agreement. The event was part of the one week Edo State TVET Conference.
The Edo State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe launched the IDEAS Project/Innovation Grant Facility on behalf of the State Governor His Excellency Godwin N. Obaseki, other Guests present at the event launch which took place yesterday 26th January, 2023 at John Odigie Oyegun Public Academy in Benin City were the World Bank representative, Dr. Adekola, Edo State IDEAS Project Board Secretary Mr. Augustine Ighodaro, the Project Consultant on IGF, Prof. Ayara, YECCIMA DG Mr. John, representative of Delta Chambers of Commerce Mr. Gregory, other dignitaries and Students of various Technical Colleges. At the launch the Consultant on IGF announced that the Innovation Grant Facility under the IDEAS Project will support critical intervention projects in different segments of of the skills development eco-system, with the goal of improving digital skill formation across the Nigeria labour market. And that the Innovation Grant Facility will award a minimum of $100,000 equivalent in Naira on a competitive basis to private sector digital skills development organisations which will be advertised on National newspapers
